Royal Blue Latex Tank Midi Dress with Long Gloves

Royal blue is what people choose when black has stopped saying anything and red says too much. In this material it comes out closer to enamel than to fabric, and it is the colour nobody else in the room will be wearing.

The cut is deliberately ordinary: wide straps, a scooped neck, and a straight skirt that runs to mid calf without a single cut-out or fastening. All the attention goes to the surface, which is exactly where you want it when the surface is this blue.

Long and close leaves nowhere to hide. The line runs from the shoulder to the calf without a break, so it either follows your body or it does not, and that is the whole reason it is made from your own bust, waist and hip rather than from a chart.

The gloves are the other half of the photographs. Blue latex from the fingertip to past the elbow turns the dress into an outfit, and because they are cut to your own arm they stay where you put them instead of working their way down all evening.

Putting latex on: take it slowly, a little at a time, bring the dress up over the hips rather than pulling from the straps, and work the gloves on finger by finger. A dusting of talc on your skin first makes it glide instead of grip.
